Exquisite Computer Engineers League - EXCEL
EXCEL,the Exquisite Computer Engineers League, was formed on November 2006. It is a group consisting of Computer Engineering students of Saint Gits College of Engineering. It was formed to explore and improve the talents of its members and thus to make the college a centre of Excellence. The activities of Excel include conducting national seminars, inter college competitions, workshop etc. EXCEL was formally inaugurated on 17th November 2006 by Mr.S.R.Nair, Managing Director of Team Frontline Limited. The CEO Er.Punnoose George, GM John Punnen, Principal Prof.Baby.K.Issac, Director (A&R) Dr.T.V.Rajendran were also present at the auspicious occasion. The function showed the support and co-operation of all teachers and students of the computer department. Teaching and nonteaching staff from other departments also provided help and moral Support. There were a few programs organized under the banner of EXCEL. It included PC Hardware and Networking workshop for 85 students. It was conducted by Corona Infotech, Kottayam.
A personality development program by TIME, Trivandrum was also conducted. We also organized a class on learning methodologies by Dr.T.V.Babu Rajendran, Director (A&R) of Saint Gits College of Engineering.
An inter-college fest that included various competitions like paper presentation, technical quiz, software debugging, project presentation programming, gaming etc is scheduled to be held in near future. A National Seminar also under consideration.Apart from these, various social activities like blood donation, raising funds to help the distressed and poor etc were conducted. EXCEL was greatly influenced and brought about great development in our technical and social abilities. It is a great success as it could do so much in its short span of existence. We hope EXCEL can do more to take Saint Gits into the world ahead.
Free Software Foundation
The SAINTGITS Free Software Cell (SFSC), established on 31st March, 2009, is dedicated to promoting technical knowledge about free software. The cell was inaugurated by Dr. V.A. Sasi Kumar, Member, Board of Directors, and FSFI. Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. The first workshop organized under the SFSC was the Introduction to Python conducted by ILUG, Cochin. |

Computer Society of India- Students Chapter(CSI)
The Computer Society of India is a non-Profit professional meet to exchange views and information learn and share ideas. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India. Today, the CSI has 66 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 40,000 members, including India's most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. Dr K. Poulose, Director of Computer Science & Studies, CUSAT inaugurated the 67th CSI branch at SAINTGITS campus on 19th February 2009 and talked about the mission of CSI, the present recession in the IT Field and ways to overcome the problems. He emphasized the need to develop creative attitude and loyalty. |
